Emma Campbell

Head of Translational Science


Emma is Translational Sciences Lead, bridging the gap between scientific and clinical fields. Emma also provides oversight of the Companion Animal Portfolio.  Emma has over 20 years’ experience in drug discovery and pre-clinical development, successfully transitioning biotherapeutics from target validation through to the clinic.

Emma spent a number of years at Novartis within their Respiratory Biologics Unit as a Lab Head then Group Leader. Emma led several projects for the treatment of inflammatory and fibrotic diseases, managing cross-functional teams responsible for target validation, candidate screening, lead identification and preclinical development to IND. Emma supported teams through human PhI/II clinical trials including compilation of Health Authority documentation.

Emma led labs within Novartis responsible for profiling large and small molecule therapeutics. Prior to joining 272BIO, she provided biotherapeutics consultancy to a range of pharma companies, supporting their screening, portfolio and IP positions. Emma obtained her BSc from Manchester University and PhD from The University of Bath before completing post-doctoral work within the University of Michigan Medical School.
